SlateLog Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 17, 2026

SlateLog ("we," "our," or "the app") is a film production logging tool for iPhone. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data Storage

All production data you create in SlateLog — projects, scenes, shots, takes, camera settings, rolls, reference photos, GPS coordinates, and compass headings — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not operate servers that store your production data. Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it (e.g., CSV export shared via the iOS share sheet).

2. Analytics

We use Mixpanel to collect anonymous usage analytics. These help us understand how the app is used and improve the experience. We track:

  • App opens and session duration
  • Feature usage counts (e.g., projects created, takes logged, exports made)
  • Subscription events (paywall shown, converted, dismissed)
  • Camera brand name (optional, when provided)

We do not collect:

  • Your name, email, or any personal contact information
  • Production names, scene content, shot notes, or any creative data
  • GPS coordinates or location data
  • Photos or reference images
  • Device identifiers tied to your identity

Mixpanel's privacy policy is available at https://mixpanel.com/legal/privacy-policy/.

3. Camera and Location Access

SlateLog requests access to your camera to capture reference photos for shots. These photos are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded.

SlateLog requests access to your location to tag shots with GPS coordinates and compass heading. This data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party.

You can revoke these permissions at any time in your iPhone's Settings app.

4. Apple Intelligence (AI Features)

SlateLog's AI features (available on supported devices) use Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework. All AI processing happens entirely on your device. No production data is sent to Apple, Anthropic, OpenAI, or any external AI service. AI features require iPhone 15 Pro or later with iOS 26+.

5. Subscriptions

SlateLog offers an optional paid Premium subscription managed entirely through Apple's App Store and StoreKit. We do not process payments directly. Apple handles all billing, and we only receive anonymous transaction confirmations to verify your subscription status. Apple's privacy policy applies to all payment processing: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.

6. Data Export

When you export a CSV camera report, the file is generated locally on your device. You control where it goes via the iOS share sheet. We have no access to exported files.

7. Third-Party Services

The only third-party service integrated into SlateLog is:

  • Mixpanel — Anonymous usage analytics (see Section 2)

We do not use advertising SDKs, crash reporting services, or any other third-party data collection tools.

8. Children's Privacy

SlateLog is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control. Deleting the app removes all data. There is nothing stored on our servers to delete.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
